If European manufacturers are not directly affected by certain international regulations, they are still exposed to requests for compliance from their exporting customers. This is called "compliance transfer" in the supply chain.
In Europe, manufacturers of electronic and electrical articles and components are required to comply with RoHS 2 and soon RoHS 3. This Directive ensures the traceability of substances in products marketed in the Member States and in the waste treatment sector.
Other non-European countries, have also introduced international regulations similar to the RoHS directive (about ten versions of RoHS worldwide - China, Norway, Brazil...) but also other regulations, such as as the famous California Proposition 65.
Manufacturers: what are your challenges and obligations in the context of increasing regulations?
What are the consequences for the different actors in the supply chain?
